Introduction: We worked with a large Switch Gear manufacturer based in Chennai in implementing 5S across their 3 units.

Before State (As-Is Situation):  5S was not practiced in the company. No specific location for each materials. A lot of unwanted items present in the company. Lack of Preventive Maintenance and Daily Cleaning.

Our Activities: We started the engagement with forming the core team for implementing 5S. We gave training to the core team on 5S activities. We initially started with 1 zone for 1S activities and gradually implemented 5S across all the zones in the unit.

Result: A lot of unwanted items were moved out of the unit. 10% extra space availability due to removal of unwanted items. Searching time reduced and overall safety and morale of the team improved.
